Read what they have to say about life at Visser & Smit Hanab SA/NV
The opportunities the company has given me to develop into who I am now have always encouraged me to keep striving to make that extra step when it comes to ongoing learning for different operations. From earthworks via pipelines to cable works, so much has already changed for me in the past six years. I’ve been fortunate enough to climb to the position of foreman on my career path. Visser & Smit Hanab SA/NV fascinated me from day one, and remains the case. The good atmosphere among colleagues, some of whom I count among my real friends, is really great here.
Every day’s different, which means every day is also a challenge. One day we’re on home connections, the next day we’re back on industrial connections. Variation in my work is something I really get a kick out of. For me, working outdoors is also very important, anything but being stuck between four walls. Finally, I get on really well with my regular partner, which makes coming to work every morning a pleasure.
The wide variety of activities ensures that it’s always a new challenge to implement a project. Every employee has the opportunity to keep learning and take on more responsibilities. Visser & Smit Hanab SA/NV really focuses on in-house training and support for young people. There’s a good atmosphere in the company.
Variation in my workflow, new challenges, a great atmosphere and the fantastic colleagues mean I’m happy to be working at Visser & Smit Hanab!
When I signed my contract with what was then Aquavia SA/NV in the summer of 1999, I was told: “Either you’ll be gone within six months or you’ll be here for the rest of your career.” The warm, collegial atmosphere among colleagues and the opportunities to grow within this company have meant that it’s the latter half of that statement that holds true for me.
When I completed my studies, I had a choice between various construction firms, but Visser & Smit Hanab SA/NV was far and away my top choice. At the first interview I already felt that there was a warm atmosphere between colleagues. As a graduate, your first work experience is never easy, but thanks to good training and support within the company, I learned a great deal in a short space of time. As I learned more, I was given more and more responsibility. You’re not left to fate, and you can always go to colleagues with questions or comments. There’s an open, relaxed atmosphere within the company.
